Unveiling the Silent Struggle: Drought Challenges in the Mediterranean Islands

The Case of Lesvos Island in Greece

The main problem with water on Mediterranean islands is the scarcity and uneven distribution of freshwater resources, exacerbated by increasing demand from tourism, agricultural practices, and climate change impacts, leading to frequent droughts and water shortages. This is a short Blog (with a win of article) from my brief experience in one of the most vulnerable Islands in this region.

Please share these concerns about similar problems in other places in the Mediterranean, and share evidence of similar experiences and proper responses, which will help to get a better picture of how to act regarding this phenomenon collectively.

My main interest is in drought management and community resilience, I am happy to answer any comments or questions regarding this issue through this space of the CLP.
