In the coming weeks and months, the Intergovenmental Working Group (IWG) on Drought will (continue to) elaborate and discuss options to advance drought risk management (DRM) under the Convention. One option is a global target for DRM. Such a target would be a powerful tool to measure and communicate what is to be achieved. Think of the 1,5° target of the Paris Agreement, the 30*30 target of the CBD or the LND of the UNCCD.
This Community could contribute to the work of the IWG by providing suggestions and discussing advantages and disadvantages of these, thereby enriching the thinking of the IWG.
