The United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) and Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) are jointly working on a project to develop a Regional Drought Risk Management and Mitigation Strategy for selected South Asian countries. The primary objective of this regional strategy is to enhance resilience against drought events, emphasizing a fundamental shift from reactive to proactive approaches in drought management.

In this context, a regional consultation workshop on drought management for South Asia will take place in Bangkok, Thailand, from 22 to 24 January 2024. The workshop aims to support the development of the regional drought management and mitigation strategy. The workshop supports in-depth discussions on existing and potential policies on drought management.
