🌍 About the Programme

The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) has launched a 12-month initiative to involve young people (aged 20–30) from its member countries in shaping climate and energy policies across the Euro-Mediterranean region. This programme empowers participants—called Youth Delegates—to engage in policy discussions, co-create climate initiatives, and represent youth perspectives at major events like COP30.

As a Youth Delegate, you will:

  • Influence Policy: Take part in regional consultations and contribute to drafting climate and energy strategies.

  • Amplify Your Voice: Represent youth at significant events, including the UfM Energy & Climate Business Forum and the Mediterranean Pavilion at COP30.

  • Drive Impact: Collaborate on regional projects and publish joint outputs reflecting youth perspectives on energy transitions and climate resilience.

âś… Eligibility Criteria

To apply, you should:

  • Be between 20 and 30 years old at the time of application.

  • Hold nationality from a UfM Member State.

  • Have academic, professional, or voluntary experience in climate action, energy, sustainability, or related fields.

  • Demonstrate motivation and a collaborative spirit.

  • Have a good command of English, the programme's working language.

  • Duration: June 2025 – June 2026.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 2–4 hours per month for virtual meetings, trainings, and collaborative work.

  • Key Activities:

    • Monthly virtual workshops on topics like climate diplomacy and project management.

    • Participation in regional events (e.g., Green Week 2025 in Brussels, COP30).

    • Development of a policy white paper on youth perspectives for a just energy transition.

    • Mentorship from UfM Energy & Climate Action Division staff.

📝 Application Process

To apply, submit the following documents:

  1. Statement of Purpose: Explain your motivation to join the programme (maximum 1 page).

  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV): Detail your relevant experience (maximum 2 pages).

  3. Project/Initiative Idea: Propose an innovative idea related to climate action or energy in the Mediterranean region (maximum 1 page).

  4. Passport Copy: Provide a scanned copy of your passport's photo page.

  • Programme Nature: This is a voluntary, non-remunerated programme. Delegates are not considered UfM staff members and will not receive financial compensation.

  • Post-Programme Opportunities: Upon completion, delegates will receive a Certificate of Participation and join the ECA Youth Alumni Network for future opportunities.
