CIEDM is holding a local event to support the global awareness campaigns of the 2026 World Environmental Education Day and UN International Day of Clean Energy, both taken place on 26 January. It is programmed with the following actions:
- A registration with a IISD sponsored educational webinar titled "Renewable Energy and Sustainable Land Management" on 28 January, as posted by UNCCD, to expand and update our knowledge on the subject, especially on the sustainable management of drylands/rangelands in light of this January kicking off the UN International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists (IYRP2026). - A cleanup of surfaces of rooftop solar PV and water heater systems and ground mounted solar lights and animal repellers in the yards of the Arcadia Ecohome, a certified green building located in the arid Los Angeles area, so as to increase the energy outputs of those renewable energy applications and to share the needs for periodical maintenance after initial system installations. The attached photo illustrates the south elevation of the Ecohome, with solar PV and water heater systems on the higher roof and passive solar energy installations at ground floor of the Ecohome.
- An online advocacy action mainly by a social media campaign to raise public awareness of the two international campaigns, the webinar, and CIEDM activities in the Arcadia Ecohome, including our SME, or subject matter expert, comment made to the UNCCD posting on Facebook about the webinar.
