    2024 European State of the Climate (ESOTC) report, compiled by the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO)

    The ESOTC provides descriptions and analyses of climate conditions in Europe in 2024, covering variables from across the Earth system, key events and their impacts, and a discussion of climate policy and action with a focus on resilience of the built environment.

    It is the result of a collaborative effort by around 100 scientists and colleagues across Europe and the rest of the world.

    The UNCCD and GWP have launched a global photo competition at UNCCD COP 16 in December 2024 in Riyadh to highlight powerful solutions to drought and water scarcity.
    From nature-based solutions to technological innovations, we’re looking for impactful images that showcase how communities and ecosystems build resilience to drought.
    🏆 Finalists will have their work exhibited at UNCCD Headquarters in Bonn during the World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on June 17, 2025.
    💰 Winners in each category will receive a $500 gift card from the International Center of Photography or Fotografiska Museum.

    The Global Environmental and Climate Conservation Initiative (GECCI), will be hosting a pavilion at the 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD). This event will take place from December 2-13, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, at the Blue Zone. The GECCI Pavilion will offer both physical and virtual event spaces for GECCI members and stakeholders worldwide, serving as a unique platform to showcase your contributions toward UNCCD goals, reversing land degradation, and advancing GECCI's mission.
