Greetings to All! My name is Masango Solomon Sone, and I serve as the Executive Director of Green Cameroon. Green Cameroon is a non-profit organization committed to environmental conservation, sustainable land management, and community-driven climate resilience. Our work is deeply aligned with the UNCCD mandate, particularly in the following areas:
Land Restoration & Sustainable Agriculture: We work with local farming communities to implement agroforestry, soil conservation techniques, and sustainable farming practices that restore degraded lands and improve food security.
Community-Based Natural Resource Management: We empower rural communities—especially women and youth—to sustainably manage forest resources, water catchments, and biodiversity, reducing pressure on fragile ecosystems.
Drought Resilience & Early Warning: We support community-level drought preparedness through training on climate-smart agriculture, water harvesting techniques, and the establishment of local early warning systems to mitigate the impacts of recurrent droughts.
Environmental Education & Advocacy: We run awareness campaigns and capacity-building programs that promote sustainable land use and influence local policy towards climate adaptation.
Cameroon, like many African nations, faces increasing challenges from land degradation and changing rainfall patterns. Through Green Cameroon, we are committed to scaling up nature-based solutions and fostering South-South learning to enhance drought resilience at the grassroots level.
I look forward to actively contributing to this community, sharing our field experiences, and collaborating with fellow members on initiatives that advance sustainable land management across Africa.
